Newcastle United Under-21s will make the short journey to face Spennymoor Town in a friendly on Wednesday, 13th August (7.30pm kick-off).

Peter Beardsley's side will travel to the Northern Premier League Division One North outfit as part of both clubs' pre-season schedules, with the Magpies likely to include the likes of Jonathyn Quinn, Alex Gillead and Daniel Barlaser in their squad for the game at the 4,000-capacity Brewery Field.

Jason Ainsley's men won the Northern League Division One title last season and the game will be both teams' final outing before their respective seasons start a week later, with the Moors away to Padiham the following Saturday and United's second string at Bolton Wanderers the following Monday.

"Newcastle coming to the Brewery Field tops off a mouth-watering set of pre-season friendlies and not only does it give our supporters the opportunity to watch Premier League players at close quarters but also a chance for our players to test themselves against the best," said Ainsley.

Admission for the game is priced at £4, with concessions costing £2.
