The digital finance company, which became the first organisation to sponsor both the men's and women's clubs this season, arranged for Tiote to drop in to a training session at Northumbria University's Coach Lane campus, where the ladies were being put through their paces by new first team coach, Trevor Benjamin.
As well as handing out specially branded T-shirts donated by Wonga, complete with the message 'Howay the Lasses', Tiote joined in the session and chatted to the girls about their season in the FA Women's Premier League North.
"I had a really good time at the training session," said the Ivorian enforcer.
"A lot of the players are fans of the men's team and come to our games so it was good to join in and talk to them about both of our seasons.
"We are all very proud to wear the shirt so I am happy that Wonga has made it easier for them to look and feel like Newcastle players."
