Tim's On The Way To Wembley

Written by Newcastle Utd

Newcastle's Tim Krul speaks after being named in the Holland squad to face England at Wembley next week

By Dan King - Newcastle United Communications Officer

Tim Krul is set to make his first appearance at the home of football after being called into the Holland squad for their friendly against England.

Wembley is the venue for Wednesday night's game and 23-year-old Krul has started each of the last two fixtures for The Netherlands after making a marvellous debut in a 0-0 draw with Brazil in June.

Born in Den Haag, Krul made 21 top flight appearances for Newcastle last season and he spoke exclusively to nufc.co.uk moments after learning of his inclusion in Bert van Marwijk's squad.

"I'm very excited, especially with it being against England at Wembley," he beamed. "It's a place - especially in a game like that - which is fantastic to be. I've never played there before so that would be really good.

"The games in the summer against Brazil and Uruguay were a dream come true. As a little boy, you want to play for your country and to make your debut against Brazil is something special.

"And it's not a bad game to go to next week against England. It's a friendly but I think England and Holland are two massive nations in football and I'm really looking forward to it."
