Corby Town have announced that a Newcastle United XI will take part in this summer's Steel Park Cup.

PSV Eindhoven and Leeds United will also compete in the friendly tournament, which will be played at the Northamptonshire-based Evo-Stik League Southern side's stadium on Saturday, 23rd July and Sunday, 24th July.

United will face Corby on the Saturday at 3.30pm, then take on PSV at 12 noon the following day.

The cup will take place in a league format, with each side playing once per day. Teams will be awarded three points for a win and one point for a draw. Goal difference will be the deciding factor if two sides are level at the end of the weekend.

The winning team will be presented with the Steel Park Cup after the final match on Sunday. PSV were last year's champions, while FC Porto and a Liverpool squad featuring Emre Can and Philippe Coutinho also joined Corby for the weekend.

Corby Town manager and former Darlington striker Tommy Wright told his club's official website: "We are absolutely delighted to be able to welcome these three fantastic clubs to Corby for the second annual Steel Park Cup.

"We are looking forward to hosting the tournament, which will offer our supporters the chance to see some top sides at Steel Park before the start of the new season. It will of course also provide a very competitive level of preparation for all the teams involved ahead of the new season."

Tickets for the Steel Park Cup can be bought from www.ticketsource.co.uk/event/135674.

One ticket gives access to both matches on a selected day for £15, or a weekend ticket is available for £25 and covers the whole tournament.

The Steel Park Cup 2016 match schedule is:

Saturday, 23rd July
12pm - PSV Eindhoven XI v Leeds United XI
3.30pm - Corby Town v Newcastle United XI

Sunday, 24th July
12pm - Newcastle United XI v PSV Eindhoven XI
3.30pm - Corby Town v Leeds United XI
