Indie rock band The Horrors have been announced as the second support act to play alongside Kings of Leon at St James' Park later this month.
The five-piece band, whose fourth studio album Luminous launched on Monday, have been added to the current line-up of White Lies and Kings of Leon on Saturday, 31st May, with further support acts expected to be announced soon.
The Horrors' last silver-selling album Skying entered the charts at number five and was anointed NME's Album of the Year. Boasting headline appearances at some of the UK's largest festivals, The Horrors last appeared in Newcastle in 2012 while supporting Florence and the Machine.
Additional standing tickets have now been released after the initial allocation sold out in record time and a new lower category ticket is also now available, priced at £29.50.
Newcastle United has also announced that tickets are now available direct from its Box Office, allowing fans the added flexibility of being able to buy in person, as well as online or over the phone.
The gig is Kings of Leon's largest UK stadium concert and is the first to be held at St. James' Park in almost seven years. The band will play songs from their new album, Mechanical Bull, which marked their fourth number one album in the UK, in addition to classics from their back catalogue.
Three-piece band White Lies, from Ealing, have featured on multiple 'ones to watch' polls, including BBC's Sound of 2009 and the BRITs Critics' Choice Award.
They also won Q Awards' Best New Band category and the MOJO Breakthrough Award and have recently released their third album Big TV, which debuted at number four on the UK Albums Chart.
Speaking of the announcement, Newcastle United's finance director John Irving said: "The Horrors are a fantastic addition to the Kings of Leon line-up and we look forward to welcoming them to St. James' Park on 31st May.
"Being the largest stadium venue that Kings of Leon are playing in the UK allows us to offer an experience that is not available anywhere else and we are hoping to continue to announce additional support acts over the coming weeks.
"The line-up that we have devised is completely unique to the Newcastle show and will offer fans a full evening of entertainment.
"The demand for standing tickets was a lot higher than we anticipated, hence the reason we have increased the amount of standing tickets available. We have also decided to sell tickets direct from our on-site Box Office, meaning that tickets are easily accessible for all, any time of the day."
Tickets for Kings of Leon and special guests are now on general sale priced from £29.50 and can be bought at www.nufc.co.uk/concerts or by calling 0871 220 0260.
Hospitality packages are also now on sale, priced from £160 + VAT per person. The packages include premium seats at the show, a pre-match meal and hospitality bar facilities. Hospitality can be booked by calling 0191 201 8444 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
