Anthony Taylor will take charge of Newcastle United's Barclays Premier League trip to Arsenal on Saturday (3pm kick-off).

It is the third time the Manchester-based official has overseen a Magpies' match this season, having been the man in the middle of September's 2-0 defeat at West Ham United, and a 6-2 thumping of Norwich in October.

On that memorable afternoon at St. James' Park, he booked two players, one of which was Newcastle midfielder Cheick Tiote.

In total during the 2015/16 campaign, Taylor has refereed 21 fixtures across the Barclays Premier League, Champions League, Europa League, FA Community Shield and international level, handing out 80 yellow cards and two reds.

The 37-year-old started refereeing in the Northern Premier League in 2002, and worked his way up through the divisions before being appointed to the Football League list at the start of the 2006/07 season.

His first Premier League appointment came in February 2010, when Fulham beat Portsmouth 1-0, and the whistler was promoted to the Select Group of Referees for the start of the following term.

Taylor became a FIFA listed referee in January 2013, making him eligible to officiate UEFA European and FIFA international competitive games and at the end of that season was fourth official for the FA Cup final.

He took charge of the 2015 Capital One Cup final between Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, and the 2015 Community Shield between Chelsea and Arsenal.

On Saturday at the Emirates Stadium, Taylor will be assisted by Stuart Burt and Peter Kirkup, with Stephen Martin the game's fourth official.
