SuperCupNI Fixtures Announced

Written by Newcastle Utd

The dates, venues and kick-off times for the Premier Section of the SuperCupNI have been announced

By Anthony Marshall - Newcastle United Managing Editor

The fixtures for the Premier Section of this summer's SuperCupNI - formerly the Milk Cup - have been announced.

The draw for the competition was made earlier this month, pitting Dave Watson's Newcastle United youngsters against opponents from France, Ghana and Northern Ireland in the group stages.

And now the dates, venues and kick-off times of those ties have been confirmed.

On Monday 25th July, Newcastle will start their SuperCupNI campaign against local team Co. Fermanagh at the Showgrounds, in Ballymena (7.30pm kick-off).

The following day, Tuesday, 26th July, the Magpies take on Ghanaian outfit Right To Dream at Seahaven, in Portstewart (7pm kick-off), and they complete the group stage on Wednesday, 27th July, by facing French side Vendee at the Warren, in Portstewart (3.30pm kick-off).

Following the group games, United will then enter a knockout stage - either the main Cup, the Globe, the Vase or the Bowl depending on their position. The finals will take place on Friday, 29th July, at Ballymena Showgrounds.

Established international stars like Ryan Giggs, Jermain Defoe, Craig Bellamy, Joe Cole, Steve McManaman and Paul Scholes have all played in the Milk Cup, while Rolando Aarons, Adam Armstrong, Freddie Woodman and Jamie Sterry have appeared for Newcastle in the tournament in recent years. Newcastle were runners-up in 2012.
