Popular Magpies keeper Steve Harper has now completed his loan move to Brighton and Hove Albion

By Dan King - Newcastle United Club Reporter

Steve Harper has completed an initial one-month loan move to Championship side Brighton and Hove Albion.

The 36-year-old goalkeeper has joined Gus Poyet's side in time to make his debut in their televised game against West Ham United at the Amex Stadium.

Harper, who has been with United for 16 years and has played in an FA Cup final and Europe for the club, as well as helping the team win the Championship title in 2009/10, has yet to make a first-team appearance this season.

He becomes the fourth Magpies keeper to head out on loan this term, with Fraser Forster at Celtic, Ole Soderberg at Darlington and Jak Alnwick at Gateshead.

And Newcastle winger Kazenga LuaLua is already on loan at Brighton, who are currently just outside the play-off places.
