Sissoko And Shola Sidelined For Season

Written by Newcastle Utd

Moussa Sissoko and Shola Ameobi will both miss the last two games of the season, but there's better news on Davide Santon and Sylvain Marveaux

By Dan King - Newcastle United Club Reporter

Moussa Sissoko and Shola Ameobi will play no part in the final two matches of the season due to injury, Alan Pardew has confirmed.

The Magpies manager will prepare for Sunday's trip to Queens Park Rangers and the home meeting with Arsenal seven days later without the pair after Ameobi joined Sissoko on the treatment table last weekend.

Sissoko missed the 0-0 draw at West Ham with a knee complaint while Ameobi limped away from Upton Park after being hurt in the closing stages but bravely playing on.

However, Davide Santon and Sylvain Marveaux could come into contention for both fixtures after recovering from respective hamstring and groin injuries.

"Moussa Sissoko's out for the season, and Shola," Pardew said. "We've had a bonus of Davide Santon and Marveaux training today but it's almost been the story of our season, really.

"We get one back and lose two, or something like that, but we've certainly got a strong enough group hopefully to get a result down at QPR."
