Ryan Relishing Fans' Support

Written by Newcastle Utd

Ryan Donaldson is pleased with the club's decision to allow fans to watch Reserve game against Blackburn Rovers

By Dan King - Newcastle United Club Reporter

Ryan Donaldson has applauded the club's decision to allow members of the public to attend Thursday's Reserve match against Blackburn Rovers (kick-off 1pm).

Originally, the game was to be played behind closed doors at Newcastle's Benton training ground, but last week it was switched to Whitley Park so that fans could come along.

And Donaldson - who scored the late equaliser in last week's 3-3 second-string draw with Sunderland in front of 2,995 spectators at the Sports Direct Arena - believes Willie Donachie's team will be boosted by having an audience once again.

"It's always nice," admitted the former England under-19 international, who has made six first-team appearances for the Magpies and also had loan spells with Hartlepool and Tranmere.

"They can sometimes be a bit dead, these behind-closed-door ones at the training ground.

"It's all the same really, but it's good to have fans there and if they want to come along and watch then that's great."

Season ticket holders and Club Members can watch for free, while prices on the gate are £3 for adults and £1 concessions.
