Romain Returns Down By The Riverside

Midfielder Romain Amalfitano makes his return from injury as Newcastle's under-21 side take on Middlesbrough at the Riverside on Friday night

Romain Amalfitano makes his return from injury as Newcastle take on Middlesbrough in the Barclays Under-21 Premier League on Friday night (kick-off 7pm).

The Riverside Stadium is the venue for the Frenchman's comeback from the injury which kept him out of the latter part of pre-season and the opening two games of the second-string campaign.

Dan Gosling, Gael Bigirimana and Haris Vuckic were all involved as Willie Donachie and Peter Beardsley's side beat Wolves 3-1 at St. James' Park last Saturday but none are included in the squad this time around.

Indeed, it's a young group which takes on a Boro side managed by former Ipswich defender Jamie Clapham, although defenders Remie Streete and Curtis Good and goalkeeper Jak Alnwick have all been on the bench in the Barclays Premier League.

Adam Armstrong will be hoping to add to the two goals he's scored in his first two matches at this level while Jonathan Mitchell grew up in Hartlepool, just a few miles away from Middlesbrough.

Tickets will be on sale on the night from the West Stand Ticket Office priced at £3 with no concessions. Car parking is available at the stadium for £2 per car.

The squad is: Lewis Aird, Jak Alnwick, Romain Amalfitano, Adam Armstrong, Macauley Booth, Macaulay Gillesphey, Alex Gilliead, Curtis Good, Tom Heardman, Kevin Mbabu, Jonathan Mitchell, Greg Olley, Jonathyn Quinn, Lubo Satka, Jamie Sterry, Remie Streete.
