Summer signing Romain Amalfitano is included in the Newcastle United under-21s squad to face Manchester United on Friday evening (kick-off 7pm).

The Frenchman is joined by two other players with first-team experience for the Magpies, with Mehdi Abeid and Adam Campbell also involved in the Barclays Under-21 Premier League clash at Moss Lane in Altrincham.

And defender Curtis Good makes his second trip to the North-West in the space of three days - he was part of the senior squad which travelled to Old Trafford in the Capital One Cup on Wednesday but missed out on a place on the bench.

Aussie midfielder Bradden Inman will look to continue his superb form this season - he has five goals in four appearances at second-string level - while Marcus Maddison turned 19 on Wednesday so will hope to celebrate with a good performance.

Irish midfielder Brandon Miele having missed the beginning of the season through injury while goalkeeper Freddie Woodman is included having made his England under-16 debut in Thursday night's 5-0 Sky Sports Victory Shield win over Northern Ireland.

Willie Donachie and Peter Beardsley's side have so far won two, drawn one and lost one of their fixtures at this level.

The squad is: Jak Alnwick, Freddie Woodman, Alex Nicholson, Michael Riley, Curtis Good, Conor Newton, Mehdi Abeid, Romain Amalfitano, Bradden Inman, Brandon Miele, Marcus Maddison, Yven Moyo, JJ Hooper, Dennis Knight, Adam Campbell
