Four Newcastle United Academy products have been offered professional contracts with the Club.

Striker Tom Heardman, midfielder Liam Smith and defenders Jamie Sterry and Macaulay Gillesphey were offered terms this week

The quartet have been regulars for the Magpies' high-flying under-21 side this season, with Heardman netting five times in just eight starts.

Right-back Sterry has been promoted to the first team matchday squad for United's last three Barclays Premier League fixtures, although narrowly missed out on a place on the substitutes' bench on each occasion.

In addition, six players have been offered third year scholarships at St. James' Park - goalkeeper Brendan Pearson and defenders Jamie Cobain, Kyle Cameron, Adam Laidler, Callum Williams and Liam Gibson.

Eight young players will leave the Club in the summer, with Ryan McKinnon, James Atkinson, Greg Olley, Ben Drennan, Jordan Storey, Jonathyn Quinn, Andy Hall and Joe Kerridge all being released.
