Quarter-Final Date Set

Written by Newcastle Utd

Newcastle's three-times postponed Northumberland FA Senior Cup tie at non-league neighbours Bedlington will be played next week

By Dan King - Newcastle United Club Reporter

Newcastle's rearranged Northumberland FA Senior Cup quarter-final tie against Bedlington Terriers will be played next week.

The game was postponed three times last year - twice in November and once in December - due to a waterlogged pitch and a clash with a FA Youth Cup tie but the two sides will try again on Tuesday, 8th January at the Dr. Pit Welfare Park (kick-off 7.30pm).

United are the current holders of the competition after beating Team Northumbria on penalties in last April's final, and have won the trophy 36 times in all during its 128-year history.

It will be the first game of the New Year for Willie Donachie and Peter Beardsley's Magpies second-string ahead of the Barclays Under-21 Premier League Tier Two starting up shortly.
