Paul Woolston kept a clean sheet as England secured their place in the Elite Qualifying Round of the UEFA European Under-17 Championships with victory over Macedonia on Monday.

Lukas Nmecha's first-half strike proved the difference in Paphos and, having beaten Cyprus 4-1 on Saturday, the Young Lions will now definitely finish in the top two of Group Four.

They face France on Thursday, with the two nations battling it out for top spot.

But it could have been a different story but for a couple of important saves from Newcastle goalkeeper Woolston.

He made a fine double save to twice deny Emil Abaz in the first half, then kept out Davor Zdravkovski in the second.
