Goalkeeper Tim Krul has been given a clean bill of health ahead of the visit of Leicester City on Saturday, Alan Pardew has confirmed.

The Dutch international had been suffering from a minor elbow injury but United's boss revealed his number one returned to training on Thursday and looks set to start in between the posts against the Foxes.

"Tim looks fine - he trained today (Thursday), so that little scare is over I think for us," said Pardew.

"It could have been a recurrence of the injury he had before and that's what we were worried for, but he's trained today and is fine.

"He played really well, I thought, at Swansea and we need him to play well this season. It's a big year for him - I think he wants to get into that Dutch national starting team, so that's good news last time out that he played so well.

"So this little scare isn't a bad thing, he knows he has to keep on top of everything."
