Alan Pardew has hailed the efforts of around 70 Newcastle United supporters who made the 4,000-mile round trip to Moscow in midweek.
As away trips go, Thursday's visit to the Luzhniki Stadium to see the Magpies take on Anzhi Makhachkala in their Round of 16 first leg tie, was never going to be easy.
Confirmation of the fixture only came a fortnight previous - once United had seen off Metalist Kharkiv - and having to apply for a Russian visa made it one of the Club's toughest logistical away days.
But that failed to deter a hearty bunch of supporters, who did their best to make themselves heard in the 78,000-capacity stadium as Newcastle played out an impressive goalless draw on Thursday night.
And Pardew was full of praise for their endeavours.
"We saw a few of them in Red Square when we were having a walk in the morning before the game, and it was great to see them," he explained.
"It was a great effort because it wasn't easy to get there. It wasn't the greatest of games because both teams were technically sound so there were limited chances, but hopefully the fans were pleased with the result and got a safe journey home."
