nufcTV: QPR Highlights

Written by Newcastle Utd

Highlights from a nervy and dramatic, but ultimately satisfying, win at Queens Park Rangers are now available to nufcTV subscribers

Barclays Premier League safety for Newcastle United was secured on Sunday thanks to a tense victory over Queens Park Rangers.

After falling behind to a controversially-awarded penalty, scored by former Magpies target Loic Remy, Alan Pardew's side quickly won a spot-kick of their own when Hatem Ben Arfa's shirt was tugged by Jose Bosingwa in the box.

Ben Arfa stepped up to smash the ball beyond Rob Green and then, in the 35th minute, Jonas Gutierrez closed down Green after a sloppy Bosingwa backpass and Yoan Gouffran coolly slotted the ball into an empty net from 25 yards.

From that point onwards, Newcastle looked comfortable until Rob Elliot was sent off for a second bookable offence. Steve Harper came on and United saw out the game with ten men to reach safety.
