Not So Good News For Curtis

Written by Newcastle Utd

Defender Curtis Good has suffered a hamstring injury - but there's better news for team-mate Massadio Haidara, who has yet to play this season

Australian defender Curtis Good faces another spell on the sidelines after suffering a muscle injury in Monday night's Barclays Under-21 Premier League draw with Bolton.

The 20-year-old limped off after 59 minutes at Whitley Park, having only returned from a minor knock in the previous second-string match at West Bromwich Albion.

He also spent some time on the treatment table at the beginning of the season so it's been a mixed campaign so far for the left-footed centre-back, who made his first-team debut at Morecambe in the Capital One Cup in August.

Speaking to nufcTV, Reserve Team Manager Willie Donachie confirmed: "It's a hamstring injury.

"I don't know how bad but he just doesn't seem to be able to get a run of games going.

"So it's a shame for Curtis. He was just getting back to fitness and hopefully maybe going out on loan somewhere. But now he's injured again and it's put him back again."

However in better news for Newcastle, Good's fellow young defender Massadio Haidara is nearing a comeback.

The Frenchman has yet to kick a ball this term after sustaining a pre-season injury but is almost ready to return.
