Nile Set To Be The Loan Ranger

Written by Newcastle Utd

Newcastle United striker Nile Ranger is set to join Championship side Barnsley on loan until 14th January

Newcastle United striker Nile Ranger is set to join Barnsley on loan.

Once the relevant paperwork is completed Ranger will remain at the Championship club until 14th January, and if the switch is finalised in time he could make his debut on Saturday against Doncaster.

The 20-year-old joined the United Academy in July 2008 and was prolific for the Under 18s and Reserve teams.

His first team debut came in August 2009 as a substitute against West Bromwich Albion, and Ranger bagged his first goal in the black and white stripes in December 2009 against Coventry.

With Newcastle back in the Premier League, the former England Under 19 international made a number of appearances from the bench last season, but he is yet to make an appearance this term.

United boss Alan Pardew said: "Nile needs to go out on loan and needs regular games to help his development as a footballer.

"He has real talent, the time is right for him to go out and play, and Barnsley have a very good player for a couple of months."
