Newcastle v Everton: Marveaux In For Obertan

Written by Newcastle Utd

Sylvain Marveaux is handed his full Premier League debut as Newcastle take on Everton at St. James' Park

By Anthony Marshall - Newcastle United Club Reporter

Sylvain Marveaux makes his full Premier League debut this afternoon as Newcastle entertain Everton at St. James' Park in the Premier League (12.45pm).

The winger signed from Rennes in July, but due to United's fantastic start to the campaign he has had to be patient for a chance in the starting line-up, restricted to just substitute appearances and Carling Cup showings to date.

However, with Gabriel Obertan suffering from a toe infection, Marveaux has been given the nod by manager Alan Pardew today against the Toffees.

That aside, Newcastle remain unchanged from Monday night's victory at Stoke, meaning Danny Guthrie continues in central midfield in place of Cheik Tiote, who is still ruled out with a knee injury.

Peter Lovenkrands returns to the substitutes bench, and Dan Gosling - signed from Everton in the summer of 2010 - is also among the replacements.

For Everton, former Newcastle loanee Louis Saha starts up front and they also welcome back Royston Drenthe from suspension. The influential Tim Cahill is on the bench having only just recovered from a knock.
