Written by Newcastle Utd

Massadio Haidara, Nile Ranger, Sammy Ameobi and James Tavernier all start for Newcastle's second-string against Stoke

By Dan King - Newcastle United Club Reporter

Nile Ranger will lead the line for Newcastle United's under-21s against Stoke City this afternoon (kick-off 1.30pm).

The striker, who appeared as a late substitute against the Potters' first team in November, starts for Willie Donachie and Peter Beardsley's side in the behind-closed-doors Barclays Under-21 Premier League fixture.

He will be supported by Adam Campbell, Sammy Ameobi and first-year Academy scholar Greg Olley, making his second-string bow.

Jonathyn Quinn, meanwhile, makes his first start at this level in midfield after appearing as a second-half substitute against Reading and will be partnered by Steven Logan.

New boy Massadio Haidara starts at left-back with James Tavernier on the right of a defence made up of Alex Kitchen and Lubo Satka, while Jak Alnwick is in goal.

Michael Richardson and Alex Nicholson, both sidelined through injury since September, are among the substitutes along with goalkeeper Jonathan Mitchell, Remie Streete and Jamaica-born youngster Rolando Aarons.
