Morecambe Issue Smoke Canister Appeal

Morecambe are appealing to United fans not to attempt to bring smoke canisters into the Globe Arena

By Anthony Marshall - Newcastle United Managing Editor

Morecambe are appealing to Newcastle United fans not to attempt to bring smoke canisters into their Globe Arena stadium when the sides meet in the second round of the Capital One Cup on Wednesday (7.45pm kick-off).

A rigorous searching operation will be conducted outside the ground's turnstiles ahead of kick-off and anyone found trying to take a smoke canister or flare into the stadium, or discharging one inside, will be arrested and prosecuted.

Newcastle United will take strong action against any such individuals.

Morecambe have arranged additional on-site catering for the 1,800 Magpies fans who have tickets for the cup tie, and before the match visiting supporters are welcome in the Sportsmans Bar at Regent Caravan Park, which is a few hundred metres from the stadium.
