Miele And Satka In Euro Action

Written by Newcastle Utd

Newcastle duo Brandon Miele and Lubo Satka were in action for their countries at under-19 level on Thursday

By Dan King - Newcastle United Club Reporter

Young Newcastle pair Brandon Miele and Lubo Satka were both on duty for their respective countries on Thursday in European Under-19 Championship qualifiers.

Midfielder Miele started for the Republic of Ireland in their Group Two opener against Switzerland in Belgrade, and helped them to race into a 2-0 lead with Sam Byrne and Kieran Sadlier on target.

However, Michael Frey pulled one back two minutes before half time and then Samuele Campo equalised in the second half. Miele played the whole game.

Meanwhile in the group's other game Satka lined up for Slovakia against Serbia, playing the full 90 minutes as his side lost 4-0.

Three of the Serbia goals came in a five minute spell either side of half time and that proved costly for Satka and his team-mates, who had previously matched their opponents all the way.

Milan Malatinsky's side take on Ireland on Saturday, a match which should see Miele and Satka come up against each other.
