Mbabu To Return At Heaton

Swiss defender Kevin Mbabu will make his first appearance of the season when Newcastle face Heaton Stannington in a friendly

Swiss defender Kevin Mbabu will make his first appearance of the season when a Newcastle XI travel to Heaton Stannington on Wednesday (kick-off 7pm).

Peter Beardsley will take a team to Grounsell Park in High Heaton just a day after overseeing Tuesday's 8-0 behind-closed-doors victory over Carlisle United.

But while the likes of Ayoze Perez, Facundo Ferreyra and returning Ryan Taylor played against the Cumbrians, a much younger squad has been named for the friendly against the Northern League second division outfit.

That means Mbabu, who has been sidelined through injury, is likely to start while Jamie Sterry continues his own comeback.

The Club's leading goalscorer at all levels, Tom Heardman, will look to add to his tally and Jonathyn Quinn is included, with the terms of his work experience loan with Blyth Spartans allowing him to continue playing for the Magpies.

Admission is £5 or £2 concessions and under-16s.

The squad is: James Atkinson, Daniel Barlaser, Kyle Cameron, Liam Gibson, Macaulay Gillesphey, Tom Heardman, Adam Laidler, Sean Longstaff, Kevin Mbabu, Ryan McKinnon, Greg Olley, Jonathyn Quinn, Callum Roberts, Carl Robinson, Jamie Sterry, Dan Ward, Paul Woolston.
