Eight-year-old Kieron Symington has been crowned the first ever Match Attax Newcastle United champion.

Hundreds of Match Attax matches have taken place in the family section of St. James' Park over the course of the season, culminating in the top 12 players battling it out on the final day of the campaign, against Arsenal last Sunday.

Kieron progressed from the group stage to face Jack Barrow in a tense final on the pitch at half-time of the Premier League fixture, and lifted the trophy thanks to a 5-4 win.

"I can't believe it," said Kieron.

"I practice every day and love playing Match Attax. To become the Newcastle United champion is an amazing feeling."

Kieron received a huge cheer from more than 52,000 fans inside the stadium as he was awarded his trophy and a signed Newcastle shirt, and the new champion vowed to be back next season to defend his crown.
