Mark In The Middle At Morecambe

Written by Newcastle Utd

Mark Haywood will referee Newcastle's Capital One Cup second round tie at Morecambe on Wednesday

By Anthony Marshall - Newcastle United Managing Editor

Mark Haywood will referee Newcastle United's Capital One Cup second round tie at Morecambe on Wednesday night (7.45pm kick-off).

The West Yorkshire-based official has overseen four games so far this season across the Championship, League One, League Two and the Capital One Cup, issuing ten yellow cards and one red.

Haywood has spent all of his career to date refereeing in the Football League, but this is not his first Magpies' match, having taken charge of two of United's fixtures during the 2009/10 campaign, when the Magpies' romped to the Championship.

On Wednesday at the Globe Arena, Haywood will be assisted by Robert Jones and James Wilson, with Stephen Bratt the fourth official.
