Newcastle United stars Demba Ba and Yohan Cabaye, along with goalkeeping coach Andy Woodman, paid a visit to pupils from two Byker schools - Byker Primary and St. Lawrence Primary School - earlier this week.

The Magpies trio were at Ayton Park in Byker to support the work of the Byker Community Trust and took part in coaching drills and matches with the youngsters, giving them an afternoon they will never forget.

After signing autographs and posing for numerous photographs, Ba said: "This is a fantastic scheme Byker have and we were delighted to come along today to support their work.

"Passing on a few coaching tips is always a pleasure and I hope they continue to develop as players, and good people too."

Nick Kemp, a director of the Byker Community Trust, added: "The support we got from Newcastle United was incredible and the feedback we have received on their participation has been phenomenal."
