Newcastle United will face Irish side Bohemian in their first pre-season friendly of the summer in July.

United last week confirmed that they would be making the trip to Ireland for a week-long training camp in County Kildare, which will begin on Saturday, 9th July.

The following weekend, on Saturday, 16th July, Rafa Benitez's men will line up against Bohs at their Dalymount Park home ground in the Phibsboro area of Dublin.

The friendly - the Magpies' first of pre-season ahead of the 2016/17 Skybet Championship campaign - will kick off at 2pm local time.

Bohs, who are managed by Keith Long, currently sit in eighth position in the 12-team League of Ireland Premier Division, which runs through to October.

United beat Bohemian over two legs in the first round of the UEFA Cup back in the 1977/78 season, playing out a 0-0 draw away from home prior to a 4-0 victory at St. James' Park.

A friendly between the two sides also took place in the summer of 1998, with the game finishing 1-1. German midfielder Ralf Keidel scored the Magpies' goal.
