Loan Watch: Stanley Crash Out

Written by Newcastle Utd

Michael Richardson played the whole game as Accrington Stanley were knocked out of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy by holders Crewe

Accrington Stanley were knocked out of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy by holders Crewe Alexandra on Tuesday night.

Newcastle's on-loan midfielder Michael Richardson played the whole game for Stanley, but they were beaten by Chuks Aneke's 79th minute goal.

Former Magpies midfielder Bradden Inman started for Crewe as 21-year-old Richardson had the visitors' best goalscoring chances.

First he saw a close range effort cleared off the line by Gregor Robertson, then he headed over the bar before dragging a shot wide in the second half.

Last week, Richardson's initial one-month loan period was extended until the New Year.
