Loan Watch: Saints Beat Saints

Written by Newcastle Utd

Paul Dummett played another 90 minutes for St. Mirren on Saturday but his side were beaten at St. Johnstone

By Dan King - Newcastle United Club Reporter

Paul Dummett made his fifth appearance for St. Mirren on Saturday as the Buddies were beaten at St. Johnstone on the 135th anniversary of their first ever match.

The 21-year-old left-back has been in impressive form for the Paisley outfit since joining them at the end of August and has already gained a reputation for heroic goal-line blocks.

And he made another one in the opening exchanges at McDiarmid Park to deny Gary Miller what looked to be a certain goal.

However he could do nothing to stop Nigel Hasselbaink from opening the scoring before Murray Davidson doubled the hosts' advantage on 37 minutes.

Great work on the flank from Dummett allowed Steven Thompson to tee up Lewis Guy to pull one back early in the second half but Danny Lennon's side couldn't force an equaliser and slipped to seventh in the Scottish Premier League.

The on-loan Newcastle man picked up his first booking of the season. Next up for St. Mirren is home match against leaders Celtic after the international break.
