Loan Watch: Newton Nets Again

Written by Newcastle Utd

Conor Newton scored for the second game in a row as St. Mirren continued their recent good form in the Scottish Premier League

Conor Newton scored for the second successive match as St. Mirren continued their recent revival against Ross County on Sunday.

The midfielder was watched by Newcastle's Reserve Team Manager Willie Donachie and United defender Paul Dummett, who spent last season on loan with the Paisley club.

Kenny McLean gave the Buddies a first half lead before Newton - who also netted against Partick Thistle eight days earlier - added the second with a right-footed finish in the 51st minute.

Steve Saunders pulled one back but Ross County then had two men sent off as Danny Lennon's side claimed all three points to climb to eighth.

It was an otherwise quiet weekend for Newcastle's loan stars, with Michael Richardson and Romain Amalfitano playing no part in respective victories for Accrington Stanley and Dijon.

Meanwhile there was no action for Shane Ferguson, Dan Gosling or Mehdi Abeid due to the international break.
