Loan Watch: Man Of The Match Again

Written by Newcastle Utd

Paul Dummett picked up his second man of the match award in succession but couldn't help St. Mirren to victory on Saturday

By Dan King - Newcastle United Club Reporter

Defender Paul Dummett was awarded St. Mirren's man of the match award for the second week in a row despite the Buddies' 1-0 home defeat to Dundee United.

The 21-year-old defender, on loan to the Paisley club until January, had been chosen as their star man in last weekend's 5-0 loss to Celtic.

And he went home clutching another bottle of champange on Saturday, with Newcastle's Reserve Team Manager Willie Donachie watching from the directors' box.

Danny Lennon's side never looked like conceding against the tangerine-clad Terrors until a needless handball from Steven Thompson in the 69th minute and Johnny Russell converted from the spot.

And despite dominating possession, the Saints could not force an equaliser as they dropped to second bottom in the Scottish Premier League.

They're next in action on Tuesday when they travel to Aberdeen in the quarter-finals of the League Cup.
