Jamaal Lascelles made his long-awaited comeback from injury in Nottingham Forest's 2-0 Capital One Cup win at Huddersfield Town on Tuesday night.
The 20-year-old defender, who hadn't featured since rejoining Forest on loan from the Magpies earlier this month, played the full 90 minutes for Stuart Pearce's side as they maintained their unbeaten start to the season thanks to an own goal from James Vaughan and a strike from Henri Lansbury.
Having now recovered from the knee injury which kept him sidelined for much of the summer break, Lascelles will compete with the likes of Michael Mancienne, Kelvin Wilson and Danny Collins for a centre-back berth at the City Ground.
Meanwhile, another United loanee, goalkeeper Karl Darlow, also featured for the Championship leaders at the John Smith's Stadium, keeping another clean sheet - his fourth of the season so far - as the second-tier's early pacesetters marched into the third round.
OUT ON LOAN
Sylvain Marveuax - Guingamp (season-long loan)
Karl Darlow - Nottingham Forest (season-long loan)
Jamaal Lascelles - Nottingham Forest (season-long loan)
