Loan Watch: It's Abeid Again

Written by Newcastle Utd

Mehdi Abeid was on target again on Wednesday night as his successful loan spell with Panathinaikos continues

By Dan King - Newcastle United Digital Editor

Fresh from lifting the Greek Cup at the weekend, Mehdi Abeid continued his impressive form for Panathinaikos with his ninth goal of the season against Atromitos on Wednesday.

It was a big game for both sides in the race for a Champions League place, which takes the form of a four-team play-off, and Abeid gave Panathinaikos an 18th minute lead.

He arrived at the far post to head home from a right wing Konstantinos Triandafillopulos cross.

But Efstathios Tavlaridis equalised for the home side in the 56th minute and the match finished 1-1.

By then, Abeid had limped off - he was injured after half an hour - and his temporary team will be hoping that he's back in action soon.
