Loan Watch: Dummett's Debut Delight

Written by Newcastle Utd

Gateshead keep a clean sheet on Paul Dummett's debut, but MK Dons lose despite the best efforts of Alan Smith

By Dan King - Newcastle United Club Reporter

The previously leaky Gateshead defence had an altogether more solid look about it on Tuesday night as Paul Dummett came in for his debut and helped the Heed keep a clean sheet.

Ian Bogie's team had conceded five times in their last two matches but with Newcastle youngster Dummett at left-back, they never looked like being breached against Hayes and Yeading at the International Stadium.

The visitors only recorded one shot as the Tynesiders won 2-0 thanks to goals from Kris Gate and Jon Shaw. Dummett, who joined Gateshead on a one-month loan on Monday, played the whole game.

However in League One, MK Dons were beaten 1-0 at home by Yeovil as they slipped to only their second league defeat of the season.

James Tavernier was ruled out with a knee injury but Alan Smith played 90 minutes. Gavin Williams scored the only goal of the game as both sides had a man sent off.

In the same division, Samuel Adjei was absent for Hartlepool's 1-0 defeat at Huddersfield with the hamstring injury which forced him off on his debut at the weekend.
