Conor Newton and Paul Dummett's St. Mirren took on a St. Johnstone side featuring Mehdi Abeid on Saturday - and it was the Paisley side who progressed to the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup.
Abeid made his debut for the away side as a 59th minute substitute, but his new club were already two goals down by then with Potuguese hitman Esmael Goncalves grabbing both.
Matchday programme cover star Newton, meanwhile, played the whole 90 minutes while Dummett, back with the Buddies after a successful spell in the first half of the season, started on the bench as Danny Lennon opted not to alter a side which had won its previous two matches. However he entered the fray on 66 minutes to help his side see the game out.
In League One, Crewe recorded a 1-0 win over Scunthorpe with Bradden Inman - who extended his loan stay with the Railwaymen until the end of the season during the week - playing the whole game and twice coming close to scoring, but illness meant that Curtis Good wasn't involved as Bradford drew 2-2 at Fleetwood.
Young Jonathan Mitchell played in goal for Workington as they won 4-1 at Colwyn Bay in the Blue Square Bet North.
