Written by Newcastle Utd

Wembley winners Crewe were brought back down to earth by Brentford despite the efforts of Newcastle's Bradden Inman

By Dan King - Newcastle United Club Reporter

Three days after winning at Wembley, Bradden Inman and Crewe Alexandra were brought back down to earth by Brentford on Wednesday evening.

On Sunday, the Railwaymen had lifted the Johnstone's Paint Trophy at the national stadium but they suffered a hangover back at the Alexandra Stadium as they lost 2-0 to Uwe Rosler's Bees.

Inman had scored twice in his last two League One appearances and was named in the starting XI but his side went behind to a 12th minute Bradley Wright-Phillips goal.

The Newcastle loanee was replaced by Ryan Colclough in the 69th minute before Marcello Trotta added a second seven minutes from time.

Crewe stayed 13th while Brentford climbed to third in the table.
