Written by Newcastle Utd

It was a quiet weekend for Newcastle's loanees, with several of them missing their respective team's games due to injury.

Jonas Gutierrez continues to be sidelined for Norwich, who lost 4-2 at Southampton on Saturday - a result which saw the Saints climb above Newcastle into eighth place in the Barclays Premier League table.

Curtis Good, on loan with Dundee United, has returned to Tyneside for treatment after suffering an abductor injury on his international debut for Australia while Romain Amalfitano was again ruled out for Dijon.

And James Tavernier missed Rotherham's 1-1 draw with Walsall on Saturday with a leg injury, although Haris Vuckic did appear as a 54th minute substitute.

Conor Newton played the whole game for St. Mirren as they lost 3-2 to Dundee United, while Adam Campbell was an unused sub.

On Sunday, Mehdi Abeid was a 58th minute substitute as Panathinaikos beat AS Giannina in the Greek Super League.

Shane Ferguson played no part in a 4-1 defeat for Birmingham against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.
