Loan Watch: Another Draw For Duo

Written by Newcastle Utd

Paul Dummett and Conor Newton helped St. Mirren pick up a useful point at Kilmarnock on Wednesday night

By Dan King - Newcastle United Club Reporter

For the second time in four days, Conor Newton and Paul Dummett helped St. Mirren to a 1-1 draw in the Scottish Premier League.

And while a point at Kilmarnock may not be quite as eyecatching as Sunday's stalemate against reigning champions and league leaders Celtic, it took them outright into tenth place - a position they previously occupied only on goal difference.

Newton was making his 13th appearance for the Buddies on Wednesday evening and started in central midfield, while it was left-back Dummett's 29th game for the club and both played the full 90 minutes.

Esmael Goncalves gave the Saints a 36th minute lead at Rugby Park but Kris Boyd levelled just two minutes into the second half.

The Newcastle-born pair, who lifted the Scottish League Cup at Hampden Park last month, are on loan at St. Mirren until the end of the season.
