Late Disappointment For Lubo

Written by Newcastle Utd

Lubo Satka's hopes of playing in the European Under-19 Championship finals are in the balance after Slovakia conceded a stoppage time equaliser

Slovakia's hopes of qualifying for the European Under-19 Championship finals were hit by a stoppage time equaliser against Albania on Thursday.

Newcastle defender Lubo Satka again played as Slovakia took a third minute lead through Matus Bero in their second of three group games.

On Tuesday, his side had lost 2-1 to hosts Bulgaria but looked set to pick up three valuable points until the late setback, when Ardit Prendi levelled in the dying seconds.

Satka admitted that it was a disappointing result after leading for so long, and felt Slovakia should have won the game.

But they can still qualify with victory in their final match against Greece on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Academy midfielder Michael Newberry was not involved as Northern Ireland lost 1-0 at home to Latvia in their opening qualifying game for the European Under-17 Championships.
