Kyle Cameron helped Scotland to seal their place in the Elite Round of the UEFA European Under-19 Championships on Wednesday.

The Tartan Army went into their game against the Republic of Ireland in Limerick knowing that three points were a must if they were to progress.

And they secured the win they needed in some style, surging into a 3-0 lead before half time and adding another goal in the second period.

Newcastle defender Cameron appeared as a late substitute for Scot Gemmill's team.

The victory meant Scotland's youngsters finished second in Group One. The draw for the Elite Round will be made next month, with three more group games standing between Scotland and a place at the Championships in Germany next summer.

Meanwhile, Mackenzie Heaney played the full game as England's under-17s were beaten 5-3 in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Germany at St. George's Park.

The talented teenager from Walker will hope to be involved in Friday's rematch at Rotherham, which will be shown live on BT Sport.
