Mike Jones will referee Newcastle United's Barclays Premier League fixture against Southampton at St. James' Park on Saturday (3pm kick-off).
It is the second time this season the Cheshire-based official has been in charge of a Magpies' match.
He took charge of the Capital One Cup third round victory over Leeds United, in which he booked just one player - the Whites' Alex Mowatt.
So far this term, the 45-year-old has been appointed to 12 games across the Premier League, Championship and Capital One Cup, issuing 32 yellow cards, one red and awarding two penalties.
Jones was promoted to the Football League list of referees in 1997 and went on to take charge of the League Two play-off final and FA Trophy in 2007, before moving into the Select Group which officiates in the top flight.
In May 2012, he was the fourth official for referee Phil Dowd at the FA Cup Final between Chelsea and Liverpool.
On Saturday at St. James' Park, Jones will be assisted by Gary Beswick and Mark Scholes, with Kevin Friend the game's fourth official.
