Jonas To Face Foxes

Written by Newcastle Utd

Newcastle take on Leicester in the Barclays Under-21 Premier League Cup on Monday night, with Jonas Gutierrez included as an over-age player

By Dan King - Newcastle United Digital Editor

Jonas Gutierrez will again turn out for Newcastle's second-string in Monday night's Barclays Under-21 Premier League Cup clash with Leicester City - if the match beats the weather.

The Argentine ace - who has played just two first-team games this season - had a hand in all four goals and earned praise from coach Willie Donachie as the Magpies beat Norwich 4-1 in their last league outing.

And he'll be involved in the 7pm cup kick-off against the Foxes if the Whitley Park pitch passes a 4pm inspection.

He's not the only player with senior experience to be named in Donachie and Peter Beardsley's squad, with Gael Bigirimana, Paul Dummett and Curtis Good included.

And while Swiss starlet Kevin Mbabu misses out through injury, Remie Streete makes a return to action.

United lost 2-1 at Birmingham in the previous round but were reinstated into the competition after Birmingham withdrew, having fielded an ineligible player.

A quarter-final place is at stake for the winner and admission is £3 for adults and £1 concessions, or free to season ticket holders and Members.

The squad is: Rolando Aarons, Jak Alnwick, Adam Armstrong, Gael Bigirimana, Paul Dummett, Macaulay Gillesphey, Alex Gilliead, Curtis Good, Jonas Gutierrez, Tom Heardman, Olivier Kemen, Jonathan Mitchell, James Morgan, Greg Olley, Jonathyn Quinn, Remie Streete.
