Jonas Gutierrez made his first international appearance in nearly 15 months as Argentina beat Nigeria 3-1 in a friendly on Tuesday night.
The Newcastle winger, 28, came off the bench for 22 minutes at the match in Dhaka, Bangladesh - his first action since representing La Albiceleste at the 2010 World Cup.
Real Madrid striker Gonzalo HiguaÃn scored twice for Argentina, while club teammate Angel Di Maria was also on target in the win. Substitute Chinedu Obasi grabbed Nigeria's only goal.
Elsewhere on Tuesday night, United midfielder Yohan Cabaye started for France and played 75 minutes as they continue to top Group D of the European Championships qualifiers, following a goalless draw against Romania in Bucharest.
In Group C, youngster Joan Edmundsson got another 90 minutes under his belt for the Faroe Islands, but was unable to inspire them to victory as they went down 3-1 to Serbia.
Goalkeeper Tim Krul was not part of the Holland matchday squad as they stretched their 100 per cent record to eight games with a 2-0 win over Finland in Helsinki.
In Under 21 action, Shane Ferguson and Northern Ireland were on the receiving end of a 3-0 home defeat by Denmark in Glentoran, but new Magpies recruit Davide Santon captained Italy's youngsters to a 3-0 away win over Hungary.
Reserve team defender Tamas Kadar played for around an hour for Hungary, but it was left-back Santon who had the last laugh.
