James Knocked Off His Perch

Written by Newcastle Utd

Ever-present James Perch will be suspended for Wednesday night's Carling Cup tie at Stamford Bridge

By Dan King

Defender James Perch will serve an automatic one-game suspension against Chelsea on Wednesday night after picking up his fifth booking of the season in the win over Everton.

The Mansfield-born right-back was shown a yellow card by Andre Marriner at Goodison Park, meaning he will be unavailable for the Carling Cup third round tie.

He will, therefore, be back in contention for the televised match with Stoke City at St. James' Park next Sunday.

Perch has played in all five of United's Barclays Premier League season so far.
