Ex-United defender Peter Jackson will be signing copies of his new autobiography in The Back Page on Saturday
By Anthony Marshall - Newcastle United Managing Editor
Former Newcastle United defender Peter Jackson will be signing copies of his new autobiography ahead of Saturday's Barclays Premier League fixture against West Bromwich Albion.
Jackson, who also pulled on the shirts of Bradford, Huddersfield, Chester and Halifax, will be at The Back Page, on St. Andrew's Street, from 2-3.30pm.
Titled 'Living With Jacko, From Touchline to Lifeline', the book has been co-written with his wife Alison and chronicles his 18-year playing career as well as four management spells.
But it is not just about life on the pitch, however, and also tells all about how, when Jackson was diagnosed with life threatening cancer, Alison put her career on hold to nurse him back to health.
Their bond was stronger than ever and now the pair work side by side in a venture which couldn't be further away from the world of football, providing care for the elderly, disabled and terminally ill.
It is an extraordinary story about a man who made 72 appearances during two years on Tyneside between 1986 and 1988, and was also named United's Player of the Season in his first term at the Club.
