INTERNATIONALS: Duo On England Duty

Newcastle United duo Jamaal Lascelles and Adam Armstrong both featured for England on Monday night.

Lascelles - who is currently on a season-long loan at former club Nottingham Forest - was handed a starting spot for England Under-21s in their friendly against France, in Brest.

However, despite taking a two-goal lead through Tottenham front man Harry Kane, the Young Lions were defeated for the first time in 13 games.

Lascelles played the full 90 minutes for Gareth Southgate's side and picked up a yellow card in the process.

Elsewhere, at under-18 level, Armstrong was handed the England number nine shirt as Neil Dewsnip's young troops eased to a 4-1 victory away in Poland.

Armstrong failed to get on the scoresheet - a rare occurence for the prolific front man at international level - but he still played a key role in the win, which was secured by a Sheyi Ojo brace and a goal apiece for Dominic Solanke and Ryan Ledson.

Magpies teammate, goalkeeper Freddie Woodman, was an unused substitute in Gdansk.
