Curtis Good has been named in Australia's final 21-man squad for the Under-20 World Cup as he looks set to win his fitness battle

Newcastle defender Curtis Good is expected to be fit in time to represent Australia in the upcoming FIFA Under-20 World Cup.

The Melbourne-born 20-year-old suffered a knee injury during April's Barclays Under-21 Premier League victory over Norwich City, which brought a premature end to his first season in England.

But Good - who played at Wembley in the Capital One Cup final while on loan with Bradford and was an unused substitute for the Magpies against Manchester City in March - looks set to recover in time for the tournament in Turkey.

On Tuesday, he was named in Paul Okon's final 21-man squad for the competition, which will be held from 21st June to 13th July. The squad will assemble on Friday ahead of two days of training in Sydney and a friendly against New Zealand on Monday, 10th June in Wollongong.

Australia have already played two friendlies in recent days - a 3-1 defeat to Holland and a 2-2 draw with Germany - but Good did not figure in either. However, it is hoped that he will be fit to play in the next ten days.

The young Socceroos are in the same group as Turkey, El Salvador and Colombia.
