UNITED youngster James Troisi has made his international debut after appearing for Australia Under-23's in their Olympic qualifier against Saudi Arabia.
The 18-year-old played the full 90 minutes in Damman, Saudi Arabia, on Wednesday, but ended up on the losing side as the hosts ran out 2-1 winners after the Aussies were reduced to 10 men for the final half hour.
It was another Newcastle striker, Mark Bridge of Newcastle Jets, who gave Australia the lead on the stroke of half-time, but two second-half goals inside six minutes sealed victory for Saudi.
The result leaves Australia third in their qualifying group with two games remaining. The top two sides then progress to a further qualification tournament where three teams will win the right to represent Asia at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
Troisi has made 17 Reserves appearances for United this season, and has been an unused substitute on five occasions for Glenn Roeder's first-team.
